Oil and Gas ~~

Today is Wednesday.. The eighth day of our programme.. As usual, we have to attend the roll call in the morning.

We have two talks today. The first talk is given by Mr Uzaymee who is an oil and gas specialist. He gives talk about oil and gas. From his talk, we get to know more about the exploration and production of the petroleum, for example, Malaysia produces 50 million barrels per day. Besides, I also learnt new abbreviation such as FSO (Floating Storage Of Loading), SW (Saturation Water), and ROV (Remote Operating Vehicle).

The second talk is given by Mr Fauzi himself entitled Overview of Petroleum Industry. We got a lot of valuable information from the talk such as the reserve life for gas in Malaysia is 39 years and for oil is 22 years. Besides, the ranking for Malaysia in the world for gas is at 14th place, and for oil is 23rd place. In addition, we also know several facts such as the largest oil field in the world is at Ghawar field in Saudi Arabia (6.7 billon barrels reserved) and the largest field in the world is at North gas field in Qatar (380 trillion SCF reserve) *SCF = standard cubic feet. Besides that, the first oil discovery is the Drake Well, the Drilling for ‘Black Gold’ in Titusville, Pennsylvania, 1859.

More facts about petroleum industry in Malaysia are in 2007, Malaysia’s proved oil reserve is at 23rd place and Malaysia export 700 000 barrels per day but import 80 000 barrels per day. The oil that we export is very high quality but the oil that we import for our consume is in medium quality only.

In the evening, we went to “Platform” in Petrosains and observed the system there. Then, we have discussion about the project that we will do soon. Today is our lucky day also because we get the allowance! =D

Tomorrow, we will start working on our project. I hope my group PETRO MACH5 can do our very best in order to complete the project successfully. ^_^
